About Beth

Beth Dumonteil BSc (Hons), Dip Psych, Dip Hyp






Beth Dumonteil’s initial degree was in human sciences (a combination of medical sciences and psychology) at University College London. She then converted this to psychology with an Open University post-graduate diploma, a BPS (British Psychological Society) accredited course.

Her professional background is in coordination and management roles within psychology, education and medical settings. She has worked as a language teacher to children in the UK and abroad and managed an educational consultancy providing PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System) training to parents and teachers, both in Brighton and later at their headquarters in Australia. She was Centre Coordinator at the Rainbow Centre in Bristol, a charity providing therapeutic support to children and their families affected by bereavement and life threatening illness. She has also held support roles within University College London paediatric and psychology departments and the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton.

Throughout this time she worked voluntarily and gained experience in a variety of settings. These include as a home visitor for children with special needs for the Portage Service in Brighton, a play worker with Body and Soul (a charity in London supporting families affected by HIV) and providing activities to children on the wards of Great Ormond Street Hospital with Radio Lollipop.

She gained her diploma in hypnotherapy from the London College of Clinical Hypnosis and is an associate member of the British Society of Clinical Hypnosis, thereby adhering to their strict rules and code of conduct. She completed specialist training in hypnotherapy with children with Lynda Hudson.  She is a fully accredited EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) advanced practitioner and member of the AAMET (Association for the Advancement of Meridian Energy Techniques).  Beth is a Reiki II practitioner, trained by Tripuri Dunne of the Reiki Allianace.  Her Reiki lineage is as follows: Mikao Usui, Churjiro Hayashi, Hawayo Takata, Wanja Twan, Krishni Borang, Tripuri Dunne

As well as running her private practice, Beth works as a Reiki therapist on the high dependency unit at the Royal Alexandra Hospital for Children in Brighton, provides a monthly EFT clinic at the Martlets Hospice in Hove and also works as a complementary therapist with the Terence Higgins Trust in Brighton.  Beth has written a book, Still Me for children who have experienced illness or injury, incorporating hypnotherapeutic elements to reassure and aid healing, available now on Amazon.
